Every piece leaves oiled. Twice a year after that is enough — the balm is the only thing we sell that gets used up.
Australian hardwoods are dense, slow-grown and stubborn, which is exactly what you want in a board. They take a knife without scarring open, and they darken rather than dull. We finish with food-safe oil and no lacquer at all — a lacquered board looks perfect until the day it chips, and then it is finished. An oiled one just gets older.

Grain, colour and figure vary piece to piece. Your board will not match the photograph exactly.
No, and nothing oiled ever is. Hot water and detergent strip the oil and open the grain. Wash by hand, dry it standing on edge, and re-oil when the surface stops beading water.
Not exactly. Every board is cut from a different part of a different tree, so figure, colour and the pattern of the grain change piece to piece. Pale sapwood streaks and small tight knots are normal and are not faults.
A food-safe blend of beeswax and mineral oil. Our care balm is the same thing. Any food-grade mineral oil will do the job; avoid cooking oils, which go rancid in the grain.
Yes. They are hardwood and they take a knife. Expect the marks to show and to darken as the oil settles into them — that is what an old board looks like.
Australian-grown hardwood, bought as sawn stock and finished by us. Where a piece is cut from reclaimed or offcut timber the listing says so.
Dispatch is 2–4 business days. After that it is standard parcel post — usually 2–5 business days east coast, longer to WA, NT and regional addresses.
